From year to year, depending upon the venue(s) to be used for the Canadian Jessup Tournament, including courtroom facilities
as well as banquet/reception facilities, it may be necessary to impose attendance restrictions. Some venues restrict access on the basis of age
due to the availability of smoking, drinking and the sale of alcohol on the premises. In order to determine whether any volunteers might be prevented from attending certain functions, please indicate below whether on March 7, 2012 you will be over the age of 21.
On March 7, 2012, I affirm that I will have attained the age of 21.

**Please note:  Even though you are invited to specify your preference for a specific position, you still may be asked to fill another position. It is most important that every volunteer, even the Researchers, familiarize him or herself with the duties of the positions of 1st Bailiff, 2nd Bailiff and Timekeeper. It also may be necessary to combine positions if there are only two volunteers in any given courtroom. If there is only one bailiff, then this bailiff will need to carry out the duties of both the 1st Bailiff and the 2nd Bailiff. If the Timekeeper is missing, then the 1st Bailiff will need to carry out the duties of both bailiffs and the 2nd Bailiff will need to carry out the duties of the Timekeeper. If two volunteers are missing from a courtroom, then the Judicial Research Assistants will be asked to assist.

** Only those students with legal research training will be accepted as candidates for the positions of judicial research assistants. **

(Note: You may sign up for what appear to be overlapping rounds, as the time overlap has been designed to provide time for you to arrive onsite
and check in. If you are already onsite having volunteered the previous round, you will not need the additional time and there will be no overlap.)
Note: In order to be considered as a candidate to volunteer for the final rounds on Saturday, March 10th, you must have volunteered and been scheduled for
at least two of the daytime preliminary rounds on Thursday and/or Friday, not including the possible Thursday evening rounds.
French language abilities will also be a consideration.
Note regarding French language abilities: If you have indicated above that you are willing to act as a volunteer for rounds involving both French-speaking and English-speaking oralists, please indicate below your self-evaluation of your French language abilities. There will be simultaneous interpretation provided for the oral rounds, but the competitors and judges may speak to you in either French or English. Depending upon the circumstances, if a volunteer has indicated his/her willingness, a volunteer with less than full fluency in French may be asked to act as a bailiff/timekeeper for rounds involving both French-speaking and English-speaking oralists.
I would self-assess my French language abilities as:
